There’s a saying… every little bit counts. And when it comes to wanting to live a healthier lifestyle and incorporate more whole foods into your nutrition, this mantra couldn’t be more accurate.
If you are someone who has always wanted to have a more healthy lifestyle, it can seems overwhelming to think about all the things which are apart of that. I am here to tell you it does not have to be intimidating and there are lots of little things you can do in your day to day, or start to incorporate as part of your new routine that will create positive changes in your journey. And if you want more tips. Reach out to me on the contact page, I’d love to work with you!
Cauliflower Rice will change your life!– I don’t often eat regular rice anymore, in fact it’s hard for me to even recall the last time I had it. Anytime we are having something with rice, I will be sure to buy myself a head of cauliflower and send it through the food processor. It does not take more than 10 minutes from start to finish of chopping the cauliflower to the end when it is pureed and ready to go. Pro tip: do it on the weekends and then put it in the freezer, it keeps really well in there! I also think a lot more grocery store are starting to carry cauliflower rice so the work is already done for you. This is a really easy way for you and your family to get extra veggies and skip the carbs with the rice (save it for something better!)
Spiralized Veggie Noodles– This goes along the same line as the cauliflower rice. There are so many veggies that you can both spiralize yourself, or purchase at the store done for you, so when I know that pasta is on the menu- I pick myself up some veggies and give myself the healthy alternative!
Black Coffee Please!– Like most moms and women, I long for that cup of Joe in the morning. There is something about that first sip, and the smell of the beans that really puts my day off to a good start. Although I have been drinking a lot more tea in the mornings than I used to… there is nothing like a hot cup of coffee. When I first started on my wellness journey I drank triple triple.. yes you heard right, triple CREAM and triple sugar. I don’t know how I ever tasted the coffee! One of the first changed that I made was from cream to milk, then less milk and sugar, then no sugar, then no milk. You can do it too! Drinking your coffee black is a great little way to skip some of the empty calories.
Make Self Care a serious priority – Stress is no one’s friend, and it can have some pretty negative effects on your body. When you are experiencing high amounts of stress, it can actually present itself as physical symptoms like high blood pressure, weight gain, tense muscles.. just a lot of not fun stuff. For the good of your body and your mind, make taking care of yourself and doing things that bring you joy a priority! For me that is spending time with my friends, reading, moving my body, taking ridiculously hot baths (where I also read). Whatever lowers your stress and makes you happy, do it!
Getting Enough Sleep– Sleep is so important for you. When you are sleeping, this is when your body has the chance to reset, heal itself from the day, and prepare for the next one. Getting a good nights sleep is just as critical for your overall health as diet and exercise. Being well rested can have an effect on your productivity, your concentration and your metabolism. You really can’t have holistic wellness if you are not getting the sleep that your body needs. We are all different but the golden rule is between 7-9 hours per night to function at your best. I am usually up by 7 in the morning to I make sure to get myself into bed every night no later than 11. I am usually in bed reading or winding down from the day by 10-10:30… you will not often catch me staying up late! I love sleep.
I challenge you to adopt one of these and see how it makes a difference for you!
Hugs and Kisses,
